Appointments & New Clients

Do I need an appointment for my pet?

Yes. We schedule visits by appointment so we can provide timely, attentive care for every patient. Calling ahead also helps us reduce wait times and prepare for your pet’s visit.

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an appointment with Crosspointe Animal Hospital by phone, email, online form, or through the PetDesk app. Our team will help you find the best available time for your pet’s care.

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes. We are pleased to welcome new clients and patients to our veterinary hospital in Fairfax Station, VA. To help us prepare for your first visit, we ask new clients to complete the appropriate forms before their appointment.

Do new patients need to pay a deposit?

Yes. Crosspointe Animal Hospital requires a deposit to secure new patient appointments. This deposit is applied to your first visit and is only non-refundable if the scheduled appointment is missed.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

For your first visit, please bring any medical records you have for your pet, a list of current medications, and any questions or concerns you would like to discuss with our veterinary team. Completing forms in advance can also help make your appointment more efficient.

What if I miss my appointment?

A missed appointment without cancellation is considered a no-show. A $50 fee will be applied to the account for missed appointments.

What should I do if I need to cancel an appointment?

Please notify our office as soon as possible if you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment. Advance notice helps us offer that appointment time to another pet in need of care.

Payment & Prescription Services

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, cash, and personal checks. We also offer financing through Scratchpay and CareCredit for qualified clients.

Do you offer payment plans or loan agreements?

We do not offer in-house loan agreements. However, we do provide financing options through Scratchpay and CareCredit to help make veterinary care more manageable.

How long do prescription requests take?

Prescription requests typically take 24 to 48 hours to process. If your pet has an urgent medication need, please contact our office directly by phone.

Do you have an online pharmacy?

Yes. Our online pharmacy allows clients to order medications, prescription diets, non-prescription diets, and other pet care supplies. Orders are reviewed by our team before approval to help ensure your pet receives safe, appropriate products.

Wellness & Preventive Care

How often should my pet have a wellness exam?

Most pets should have a wellness exam once a year. Senior pets, generally those 7 years of age and older, often benefit from exams every six months so age-related changes can be identified earlier.

What is Fear Free veterinary care?

Fear Free veterinary care is an approach designed to reduce fear, anxiety, and stress during veterinary visits. At Crosspointe Animal Hospital, our Fear Free certified team uses gentle handling, patient-centered care, and thoughtful scheduling to create a more comfortable experience for pets and their families.

Boarding

Do you offer boarding?

Yes. We offer overnight pet boarding for dogs and cats. Our boarding areas include accommodations for dogs as well as a separate private area for feline guests.

Are boarding drop-offs and pick-ups available on weekends?

No. Because our hospital is closed on Saturdays and Sundays, we do not offer boarding drop-offs or pick-ups on weekends.

How is boarding charged?

Boarding is charged per calendar day, including the day of drop-off and the day of pick-up.

Does submitting a boarding form guarantee a reservation?

No. Submitting the boarding consent form does not guarantee a reservation. Please contact our office directly to confirm availability and finalize your pet’s boarding stay.

What are your pet arrival requirements?

For the safety of all patients and clients:

  • Dogs must be on a non-retractable leash and under control
  • Cats must be in a secure carrier or on a leash
  • Small mammals should be in an appropriate carrier

If needed, carriers for cats and small dogs can be provided in advance.

Surgery

What if I miss a scheduled surgery appointment?

If a surgery appointment is missed without at least 24 hours’ notice, it is considered a surgical no-show. The first missed surgery appointment may be waived when rescheduled, but a second missed surgical appointment will result in a $100 missed appointment fee.

Travel & Health Certificates

Do you offer health certificates for travel?

Yes. We provide pet health certificates for domestic and international travel. Pets traveling internationally require a pre-travel appointment so we can review records, country requirements, and any testing timelines.

Do you provide end-of-life care?

Yes. We offer compassionate end-of-life care in a calm, supportive environment. Our team is here to answer questions, discuss options, and help guide families through this difficult process with empathy and respect.
